This competition is not going on anymore. September was the last month
Traveling around Iceland was a big source of inspiration for the great Vikings. Not only were they very capable with a sword, they were also very skilled with pens as can be witnessed in the Icelandic sagas. Iceland even has a Nobel prize winning author. To commemorate this heritage, we want to inspire you to write your own stories of your trip to Iceland.
„Stories live in your blood and bones, follow the seasons and light candles on the darkest night-every storyteller knows she or he is also a teacher“

The rules are very simple:
Write a travel blog about your camper van vacation, in English. You have to write at least a thousand words It‘s totally fine if you write a longer story.
1. Take at least 5 pictures and/or videos to be added together with your story.
2. Send your story and pictures/videos to camperstories@rent.is. (no video links, no published blogs, only download files/links). Have in mind if you send your full story with pictures attached to a Word document, the pictures will be compressed and some even plainly goes bad. So a dropbox or sending the pics/videos a few at a time is a better choice.
3. Include your name and booking number.
That‘s all to it. More or less all stories will be published, as long as the English is decent (run a spell check before sending it to us) and fulfill our requirements. It will then get published on our blog and you‘ll get a 100 € refund. Remember that we publish the story, a link to your blog site will not be classified as an entry for the competition (due to Google’s duplicate content issues) If your story is chosen to be the best of the month, you will get a full refund of your camper van, up to 7 days rent. Easy isn’t it?
Because of the free Wi-Fi in the camper, you can even send it while on the road. Write your own travel guide or bring out the artist in you, the choice is yours.
Now you can take The Icelandic Pledge too. By making the pledge, you promise to:
I PLEDGE TO BE A RESPONSIBLE TOURIST.
WHEN I EXPLORE NEW PLACES,
I WILL LEAVE THEM AS I FOUND THEM.
I WILL TAKE PHOTOS TO DIE FOR,
WITHOUT DYING FOR THEM.
I WILL FOLLOW THE ROAD INTO THE UNKNOWN,
BUT NEVER VENTURE OFF THE ROAD.
AND I WILL ONLY PARK WHERE I AM SUPPOSED TO.
WHEN I SLEEP OUT UNDER THE STARS,
I’LL STAY WITHIN A CAMPSITE.
AND WHEN NATURE CALLS,
I WON’T ANSWER THE CALL ON NATURE.
I WILL BE PREPARED FOR ALL WEATHERS,
ALL POSSIBILITIES AND ALL ADVENTURES.
If you make a pledge, send us a screenshot of your proof, send it with your CamperStories entry, we’ll showcase the badge on your cover photo so you can show and inspire others to do the same.
