There are 3 cottages and one big summerhouse with a view to the sea to rent in Hellnar. These houses are just below the famous glacier Snæfellsjokull in the Westfjords of Iceland. Snæfellsjökull and its surrounding is now a national park. There is a spectacular view and surroundings on our terrain that goes all the way down to the coast line. Hellnar is a nice village, just 2 hours drive from Reykjavik.
Arabud, Gardarbud and Thorabud are three separate cottages. They are all placed remotely in Hellnar and have view of the ocean and of Snæfellsjokull. The three cottages are exactly alike and hold three bedrooms, kitchen and living room, bathroom and big outside terrace with furniture's and gas barbecue. Each cottages take up to 7 people in three bedrooms (7 beds and 1 extra mattress). Well equipped kitchen with 2 electric hobs, microwave, toaster, kettle, fridge. Radio and CD player.
Possible to rent bed linen and towels.
We have 2 baby beds and 2 high chairs.
These are all a non smoking houses.
Activities in Hellnar:
• Only 5 min. walk to Café “Fjöruhúsið”, Restaurant at Hotel Hellnar and cultural centre.
• Next to the cottages is the famous "Maríulind" where it is known to give a healing effect to those who drink the water.
• There is a walking path through the lava on the land to go over to Arnarstapi (3 km walking) and do bird watching.
There is a wide selection of activities around Hellnar:
• Horse riding and swimming pool is possible at Lysuholl (20 min driving)
• There are golf courses at Ytri-Garðar Staðarsveit and Olafsvik.
• Possibility to go with a snowcar or on snowscooter on the glacier (from Arnarstapi)
• At Arnarstapi, you can go horseriding or go to the gaz station.
• Snæfellsjökull National Park include many famous sites including the magnificent Snæfellsjökull (Snæfell Glacier), Djúpalón beach, Saxhóll volcano crater, Lóndrangar the two massive lava formations, Sönghelir (the singing cave) and Rauðferldargjá, the hidden waterfall. The main purpose for establishing the park was to protect the unique landscape of the area, the rare plant and animal life and also the important historical relics around the mountain.
