Apartment serial: ISTHINGEYRI

Þingeyri (Thingeyri), a fishing village, is situated in Dýrafjordur, one of the  west fiords of Iceland. This fiord is renowned for being sheltered from the northern winds and for its serene beauty. One of Iceland’s famous sagas, Gisla Saga Súrssonar, took place here. This delightful house was built as a hospital in 1906 when French fishermen were frequent visitors in these waters.

The present owners have turned the hospital into a bright family house with five double bedrooms, two bathrooms, sitting room, dining room, television/music room, kitchen and washroom/mud room. It can easily sleep ten grown ups plus children.

The house overlooks the harbour, it has a sunny balcony at the back and a “Boules Court”.

Thingeyri has many facilities: A swimming pool, sports stadium, a viking site, a nine hole golf course, riding school and horse rental, deep sea fishing, trout fishing,  a small airport, coffee house, a museum and wonderful opportunities for hiking and bicycling.  Cayaks are also available.
